2020 Plaza Ice Cream Parlor Pricing updates
Since the last time we update this piece we thought we’d update to state that on average, prices have increases by well over a dollar on each item. Some have risen over $2!
As an example, previously the famous “Plaza” Ice Cream Sundae was priced at $5.39, it now comes in at $6.99!
The Double-scooped Ice Cream Cone has gone from $4.49 to a whopping $6.99!!
Is the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor on the Disney Dining Plan?
Yes, the majority of the smaller items such as the ice cream cookie sandwich are counted as a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan.
Pro tip – Quick service credits tend to be the biggest entitlement that guests are left with at the end of the trip, you can swap 3 snacks for a quick service entitlement so if you are getting more than a single ice cream, you might be better off using a quick service credit!
What are the ice creams like at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor?
Put simply, you can’t go wrong with ordering any of the flavours on offer at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor. While my personal favourite is the birthday cake (one of the monthly flavours that changes), I have enjoyed many of flavours over the years.
What happens if I don’t want a topping?
This is a good question and one that results in a lot of people simply not ordering something from a menu. I hate peanuts and anything that tastes like it. Disney are very accommodating so if you don’t want something like peanut butter chips on your sundae then simply ask, they don’t mind!
Disney are also very accommodating for anything with a food allergy, speak to a cast member inside for assistance.
Plaza Ice Cream Parlor History and Overview
The Parlor is one that opened alongside the Magic Kingdom itself back on October 1st, 1971, originally opening as Borden’s Ice Cream Parlor.
The Parlor saw huge popularity which resulted in its expansion in 1973 to include a waitress service. This service didn’t last the test of time, being removed in 1977 as the Parlor was sectioned off into two in order to make room for The Plaza Restaurant. While it is a shame to have that waitress service removed, there are plenty of seating areas outside the Parlor or further up into the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant where an ice cream can be enjoyed from.
In 1981 Borden chose not to renew their sponsorship of the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor and the location was renamed to the Sealtest Ice Cream Parlor when Sealtest became the new sponsors. This relationship continued for over 10 years when the sponsorship changed again and the location got the name it still has today , The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor.
Nestle have pretty much been the sponsors since 1993 when Carnation (a subsidy of Nestle) took over and then Edy’s, who sponsor the Parlor today), also owned by Nestle.
Fun Fact: The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor has a flavour of the month so no matter what month you travel to the Magic Kingdom, you will find a brand new flavour to enjoy!
Plaza Ice Cream Parlor Opening Times
Traditionally the ice cream Parlor wouldn’t open until around 11-11:30am though once it has opened it will close late at night alongside the park itself.
