Main Street Bakery History and Overview

The Main Street Bakery has been serving delicious treats for over 45 years, being open at the Magic Kingdom since the beginning in 1971. The bakery itself is modelled on a turn of the century tearoom.

Main Street Bakery exterior

During the years the location has had a few name changes. From the Main Street Bakery and Cookie Shop to the Main Street Bake Shop, before finally settling on the Main Street Bakery.

Sara Lee were the original sponsors of the shop before Toll House (Nestlé) took over in and then finally the controversial renovation in 2012 when Starbucks begun serving their coffee at the location.

The refurbishment was part of a larger agreement between Disney and Starbucks whereby the coffee company would secure a presence in each of the four main Walt Disney World parks and two locations in Disney Springs. As part of this interior refurbishment to fit in the new co-branding, the exterior also received a few tweaks.

Though initially the transition to Starbucks was something not welcomed here at Theme Park Trader, Disney has managed a good job and keeping both sides reasonably happy and have added nice touches like using the old style Starbucks logo to ensure the look of the bakery remains consistent with the theme of Main Street.

While there are perhaps too many Starbucks products present over old Main Street Bakery items, it is nice to finally be able to grab a cup of coffee that actually tastes half decent in the early mornings at the park!

Main Street Bakery Opening Times

The good news when it comes to the Main Street Bakery is that you can pretty much guarantee it will be open from the second the Magic Kingdom opens until closing, or close to it.

If you are looking for an early morning boost of caffeine or an end of day treat, the bakery is a great way to start or end your day at the Magic Kingdom. If you are like us here at Theme Park Trader, calories count for nothing when in Disney so several trips in a day are sometimes in order!

Whether you like or not, the main staple of the Main Street Bakery is now Starbucks products. This includes both beverages and food though it is also fair to say that old fans of the bakery will be pleased to hear that old favourites remain.

As with any Starbucks, seasonal items (such as the famous Pumpkin Spice Latte) come and go throughout the year but below gives you an indication of most of the menu that remains intact throughout the year.
