List of Magic Kingdom Attractions

In this guide we will give an overview of every attraction at Magic Kingdom alongside FastPass availability and our Theme Park Trader rating out of 5. In the future there will be a more in-depth piece on each and every attraction in this list and this guide will be updated with new attractions as and when they come to the park.

Main Street U.S.A

Main Street U.S.A

There aren’t many people who forget their very first trip down Main Street. I certainly don’t forget mine, I was 3 years old and remember being in awe of Cinderella Castle, and there are so many reasons for this. Modelled on Marceline, Missouri (Walt’s childhood home) nothing quite beats walking through the entrance to the park underneath Main Street Station and taking in the sights, sounds and smells of the land.

Here is the attraction breakdown for Main Street U.S.A, note I have excluded shops and restaurants as these will be covered off in a future guide.

Walt Disney World Railroad – Main Street U.S.A Station

Main Street USA station

Considered as the starting point for the route around the Magic Kingdom, here you will begin your 1.5 mile trip around the park with stops at Frontierland, Fantasyland and completing the circuit back at Main Street U.S.A. While I wouldn’t recommend this attraction first to any Disney veteran, it can be a great way to ease a first timer into the madness as it allows an overview of most of the park. This trip can spoil the surprise of the park for some newcomers so best make a judgement call on whether you want to see everything by walking around or get an overview on the train.

Attraction length: Around 20 minutes

Who is this attraction suited for?: Anyone, ride is for all ages!

Theme Park Trader Rating:  4/5 – A great way to introduce the Magic Kingdom park, get around to other areas of the park, or take a 20 minute rest while taking in the views of the park!

Height Requirements: None

FastPass+ Available: Unavailable for this attraction

Wheelchair friendly: Must transfer to wheelchair

Town Square Theater

Mickey Mouse at Town Square theater

It could be argued that this is the best place in all of Walt Disney World to meet Mickey Mouse and although his attire isn’t quite as good as Sorcerer Mickey at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the way in which this Mickey Mouse interacts with guests is second to none here. Without spoiling the magic, it is the only place on property currently where you are able to have a conversation with Mickey Mouse. Check out this awesome video below that shows Mickey in action:

Of course, Town Square Theater isn’t just home to Mickey Mouse, you can also meet Tinker Bell at this location:

Both of these character meet and greets get very busy so if meeting Mickey and Tinker Bell is on your list of things to do then visit as one of the first stops in your day.

Attraction length: Tends to last a couple of minutes but if you save a few questions up then the experience can last longer.

Who is this attraction suited for?: Fans of Mickey Mouse or Tinker Bell!

Theme Park Trader Rating:  5/5 – The best place to meet Mickey Mouse on property. Having Tinker Bell also available is an added bonus!

Main Street Vehicles

Main Street Vehicles

Take a trip from the beginning of Main Street U.S.A to the entrance of Cinderella Castle in style in one of many different vehicles from the turn of the 20th Century that include:

  • Jitney: An early automobile without a roof
  • Fire Engine: A replica of the very first fire truck
  • Omnibus: A gas powered open top 2 story bus
  • Horse-Drawn Street Car: An old fashioned trolley pulled by a horse

These vehicles tend to be around first thing in the morning when the park has just opened and then occasionally pop up throughout the day. They are great if you aren’t in a rush to get to a destination but not if you are looking to be one of the first to an attraction in the morning!

Attraction length: This depends on the vehicle you choose to ride but the average is around 3 minutes.

Who is this attraction suited for?: Anyone that wants to take a gentle ride to and from Cinderella Castle!

Theme Park Trader Rating:  3.5/5 – While fantastic to ride if you want to take in the sights and sounds of Main Street, it won’t get you from A to B very quickly and is best saved for a day where the Magic Kingdom is quiet.

Height Requirements: None

Wheelchair friendly? LIMITED. See host for boarding, wheelchairs may be folded in certain vehicles.

Adventureland

Adventureland sign

Adventureland is themed on the remote jungles of Africa, Asia, South America and the South Pacific and takes a 1950’s view of the exotic experience. With beloved Disney attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean and The Jungle Cruise, Adventureland has always been one of the most popular “lands” in any Disney park.

Jungle Cruise

Jungle Cruise

As one of the original attractions to open alongside the park on October 1st 1971, this attractions has brought joy to guests for almost 45 years! Jump aboard a replica 1930’s tramp steamer with your friendly, wise-cracking skipper as you journey through several rivers that span across Asia, Africa and South America. Along the way you will encounter lots of different audio-animatronic jungle animals with plenty of jokes thrown in for good measure.

Though we have rated this attraction suitable for everyone, some of the animatronics may scare very young children so make sure you warn them in advance that they aren’t real!

Attraction length: 7 minutes

Who is this attraction suited for?: Everyone! You haven’t experienced Disney until you have taken a ride on this classic attraction. Some of the jokes may be a bit too cheesy for some guests…

Theme Park Trader Rating:  4/5 – This would have scored lower had it not been for the fact that this is a classic Disney attraction. While we love the attraction here at Theme Park Trader, the the outdated animatronics and jokes lessen the experience slightly.

Height Requirements: None

FastPass+ Available: Yes

Wheelchair friendly? LIMITED. May remain in Wheelchair/ECV

Jingle Cruise

Jingle Cruise sign

The Jungle Cruise receives a holiday makeover from early November to early January each year whereby pretty much everything about the attraction changes for the holidays. These changes include:

  • A festive decorate queue and boathouse
  • A holiday themed radio broadcast playing in the background (you can hear this when queuing)
  • Each boat is renamed to represent the holiday season (Reindeer Ruby was one we had when we last rode Jingle Cruise)
  • The jungle has received seasonal supplies and is littered with a Christmas theme

Of course no Jungle (Jingle) Cruise experience would be the same without the jokes and Skippers add in additional holiday jokes around this time of year for added fun.

Attraction length: 7 minutes

Who is this attraction suited for?: Everyone! A fresh take on the Jungle Cruise, we are fans of the Jingle Cruise here at Theme Park Trader. The jokes are still cheesy though!

Theme Park Trader Rating:  4/5 – Although the animatronics and jokes are still a little haggard, the fresh experience this attraction gives around holiday season is another great reason to ride.

Pirates of the Caribbean

An indoor boat cruise through scenes of audio-animatronics, effects and sounds is always one of the first attractions we rush too when arriving at the Magic Kingdom. Travel through scenes from a pirate raid on an island settlement to the attack on the fortress all to the sounds of one of the most influential theme park songs of all time, Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me).

Arguably one of Disney’s greatest theme park attractions of all time, appearing at most Disney parks around the world, the original Disneyland attraction was one that Walt Disney oversaw personally (though it opened 3 months after his death in 1967).

Since 2006 the attraction has also been home to characters from the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise that include Jack Sparrow, Captain Barbossa, Davy Jones and Blackbeard.

Attraction length: 8 1/2 minutes

Who is this attraction suited for?: Though small children may get scared of the animatronics, on the whole this attraction is for all ages!

Theme Park Trader Rating:  5/5 – A classic Disney attraction that never ceases to impress, whether it is your first time or 100th. The animatronics are awesome (especially the newer ones like Jack Sparrow) and the entire experience from the queue to the exit of the attraction is brilliant. A must do at the Magic Kingdom.

Height Requirements: None

Wheelchair friendly? Must transfer to a standard wheelchair to ride

Swiss Family Treehouse

Swiss Family Treehouse

Another attraction that has been open at the Magic Kingdom since October 1st, 1971, this attraction is based on the Disney classic, Swiss Family Robinson. The tree itself though is not quite as realistic as the Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. However it’s almost believable as a real tree but is instead made of steel concrete and stucco (a fine plaster) and measures 18m tall and 27m wide.

Each scene found within the tree is based on a different scene from the movie and can be a good attraction to visit for a bit of a rest bite from the crowds. The view at night is also a great way to get a different perspective of the Magic Kingdom and should be tried at least once.

Attraction length: Walk around at your leisure. 7-10 mins is the average.

Who is this attraction suited for?: All ages

Theme Park Trader Rating:  1/5 – While this attraction is based on a classic Disney movie that we enjoy, the attraction feels outdated and we are surprised it hasn’t yet received a significant overhaul.

Height Requirements: None

FastPass+ Available: No

Wheelchair friendly? No – must be ambulatory

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

Magic Carpets of Aladdin

Based loosely on the 1992 movie and running very similarly to Dumbo the Flying Elephant, riders control how high their carpets fly up and down. The only real difference here is the fact that Timothy Mouse has been replaced by Aladdin’s Lamp in the centre of the attraction and of course you are riding in carpets instead of Dumbo.

Watch out for the camel as you walk towards the attraction as it has a bad habit of spitting (shooting water) at guests that walk past.

Attraction length: 1 1/2 minutes

Who is this attraction suited for? All ages

Theme Park Trader Rating:  2/5 –  A great attraction for younger riders but isn’t any different to the Dumbo the Flying Elephant attraction. Fans of Aladdin may be disappointed by the experience on offer here.

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room

Enchanted Tiki Room Exterior

First opening in 1963 at Disneyland, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room was the very first attraction to feature audio-animatronics. The attraction was overseen by Walt Disney himself and featured Jose, Michael, Pierre and Fritz as they take guests on a Hawaiian themed musical journey as another of Disney’s classic theme park songs plays, The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room, written by Disney legends the Sherman Brothers.

The attraction was opened at Walt Disney World in time for the parks opening on October 1st 1971. The attraction received a significant overhaul in 1998 and was renamed The Enchanted Tiki Room (Under New Management) and included characters Iago from Aladdin and Zazu from The Lion King. This overhaul met with quite a backlash from Disney park veterans and the attraction was returned to its former and original glory in 2011 as a result of a fire that damaged Iago (much to the pleasure of fans of the original attraction).

Attraction length: 15 minutes 36 seconds

Who is this attraction suited for? All ages

Theme Park Trader Rating:  4/5 –  Despite many guests skipping this attraction, it remains a testament to just how advanced Walt Disney was back in the 60s and is a must visit for its catchy song and appreciation of classic audio-animatronics.

Frontierland

Frontierland station at the Magic Kingdom

Frontierland is based on the American Old West of the 19th Century where cowboys, pioneers, gold, saloons were the norm. Frontierland will always go down as one of the best themed lands at any theme park and is home to classic attractions that include Country Bear Jamboree, Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

This here be the wildest ride in the wilderness! Though Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is the attractions official name, it is often referred to as Big Thunder Mountain or simply Thunder Mountain and has been open at the Magic Kingdom since 1980.

The story to this attraction involves gold being discovered in the late 1800’s and a small mining town beginning to flourish. Due to an ancient curse, the mining community of Tumbleweed was hit by a flash flood and the inhabitants all left. Before long the mining locomotives started running by themselves and it is these same trains that you board and ride at the attraction!

Attraction length: 3 1/2 minutes

Who is this attraction suited for? Almost everyone will enjoy this thrill ride, though young children may not be able to ride. A great introduction to rollercoasters and one you will keep coming back to.

Theme Park Trader Rating:  4.5/5 –  Another classic bit of Disney engineering, everything from the setting, to the effects and even the trains themselves is just perfect on Big Thunder Mountain. The only reason we scored it a 4.5 and not a 5 is due to the super hot queue in the Summer if you haven’t got a FastPass!

Height Requirements: 40in (102cm)

Splash Mountain

Splash Mountain exterior water flume

Based on characters from the 1946 Disney film, Song of the South, Splash Mountain has been soaking guests since October 2nd, 1992 and is full of laughs, drops, splashes and more! With a longer ride time and more drops than other Disney Parks, Magic Kingdom’s version of Splash Mountain is arguably the best of the three!

Follow Br’er Rabbit who leaves his home in search of adventure as he is hunted by Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear with an ending that throws you into a 50 foot drop down a briar patch!

Throughout the journey you will hear classic songs from the movie that include:

  • How Do You Do?
  • Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah
  • Burrow’s Lament
  • Ev’rybody’s Got a Laughin’ Place

Attraction length: 10 minutes 41 seconds

Who is this attraction suited for? This attraction is great for people of all ages though guests with young children or those afraid of heights or drops may want to give this one a miss!

Theme Park Trader Rating:  4.5/5 –  This is one of our favourite attractions at the Magic Kingdom and is not one to miss at the park. The classic Disney songs mixed in with animatronics and a lengthy ride time make this a must.

Height Requirements: 40in (102cm)

Country Bear Jamboree

Country Bear Jamboree

Opening in time for Magic Kingdom’s first day on October 1st 1971, Country Bear Jamboree has been a staple of Frontierland ever since. Co-created by Disney Legend Marc Davis, the show started as a means to entertain guests at the cancelled Disney Ski Resort, the project eventually found its home in the Magic Kingdom.

Join Henry, Liver Lips McGrowl, Wendell, Teddi Berra, Ernest, Terrance, Trixie, Big Al, The Sun Bonnet Trio, Gomer, Baby Oscar and The Five Bear Rugs as they sing a variety of country songs in the 12 minute show.

Some of the songs included in the show:

  • The Ballad of Davy Crockett
  • Hear, We Did All We Could
  • How Long Will My Baby Be Gone
  • Bear Band Serenade
  • Pianjo

Attraction length: 11 minutes 34 seconds

Who is this attraction suited for? All ages though little ones may get bored after a while.

Theme Park Trader Rating:  3/5 –  Scoring higher than it deserves due to the fact we are classic Disney fans, Country Bear Jamboree is a great attraction for veteran Magic Kingdom guests but perhaps not that entertaining to new guests to the park.

Tom Sawyer Island

Tom Sawyer Island

Take a journey across the Rivers of America on a log raft to Tom Sawyer Island, a location that is all influenced by Mark Twain. The tour of the Island is one to take at your own leisure as you walk across wobbly wooden suspension bridges, mined caves and look for an old fort.

While Walt Disney himself influenced and had involvement in many attractions at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, this is the only attraction (at least the original at Disneyland) that was completely designed by Walt Disney himself.

A lot of guests don’t bother venturing over to Tom Sawyer Island it can be a great place to take a load off and just relax for an hour as the island has benches, rocking chairs and even games of checkers available while the kids run off an play.

Attraction length: Walk around the Island in your own time!

Who is this attraction suited for? All ages

Theme Park Trader Rating:  2/5 –  While Tom Sawyer Island is a great place to chill out for an hour or so, it won’t keep most people entertained for long.

Height Requirements: None

FastPass+ Available: No

Wheelchair friendly? Must be ambulatory

Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade

Frontierland Shootin Arcade

This attraction simulates a classic Western style shootout in Tombstone, Arizona in 1850. Scenes include a jail, bank, hotel and cemetery with targets reacting as they are shot.

Believe it or not, this has been at Frontierland as long as the Magic Kingdom has been open for and has long since been an attraction where kids and big kids alike test their marksmanship skills for a bit of fun. Originally, the guns actually contained lead pellets but Disney had to repaint targets every single night, resulting in over 2,000 gallons of paint being used every year! Naturally, this eventually led to the bullets being replaced by infra-red light rifles.

Guests just need to pick a gun, put a dollar in and see how many of the 97 targets they can hit with 35 shots.

Attraction length: However long it takes to fire 35 shots!

Who is this attraction suited for? All ages

Theme Park Trader Rating:  2/5 –  Okay, I rated this attraction down a bit because it costs additional money to take part and can feel a little dated to play. It has nothing to do with the fact that I have no idea how to hold the guns.

Walt Disney World Railroad – Frontierland Station

Frontierland station at the Magic Kingdom

The first stop on the grand circle tour around the Magic Kingdom, Frontierland Station, is great to get off at for easy access to Splash and Thunder Mountain! It is also a great station to board if you are looking to head to Fantasyland and fancy taking the scenic route!

Attraction length: Around 20 minutes

Who is this attraction suited for?: Anyone, ride is for all ages!

Theme Park Trader Rating:  4/5 – Great as either the continuation of the grand circle tour of the Magic Kingdom or to take a scenic route to Fantasyland. Will take longer to ride the train than to walk if you want to get back to the front of the park in a hurry.

Height Requirements: None

Liberty Square

Kermit and Miss Piggy from Muppets Present Great Moments in American History

Themed on colonial America, this land is home to one of the most popular attractions at the park, The Haunted Mansion. Guests will also find this land to be very patriotic with The Hall of Presidents, The Muppets Present Great Moments of American History and the Liberty Square Riverboat all present.

Liberty Square also features replicas of the Liberty Bell and Liberty Tree.

The Haunted Mansion

The Haunted Mansion exterior

It is safe to say that if any attraction at Walt Disney World had to be named as the fan favourite of all time, The Haunted Mansion would be the safest bet to win that award. Combining excellent storytelling, visual effects, illusions and a soundtrack that can only be found in Disney.

Guests walk through an interactive queue full of spooky noises, organs and even a cemetery before entering the mansion for an introduction as to what is to come. Guests then board Doom Buggies to be taken of a grand tour of the mansion and in doing so, learning about the story behind what has happened and why there are 999 happy haunts living there.

Attraction length: 7 minutes 30 seconds

Who is this attraction suited for?: Although designed for all ages, small children may be scared of the playful spirits.

Theme Park Trader Rating:  5/5 – As one of the only attractions at the Magic Kingdom to receive the full 5/5, The Haunted Mansion is by far one of the greatest experiences at all of Walt Disney World.

From the clever effects used to show the ghosts in the dining room to the singing busts and even the pet cemetery at the end, every little detail from the start to the end of this attraction has been considered carefully. You will spot something new every single time you ride and I can guarantee this will quickly become a favourite after riding for the first time.

This is a Disney attraction done right and it will continue to shine for many years to come.

Hall of Presidents

Hall of Presidents interior

This attraction features an audio-animatronic figure of each and every President of the United States and is located in a building that looks like Philadelphia’s Independence Hall.

The attraction begins with a short presentation of several presidencies that include George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy with a finale where all of the nations presidents are in the same room with the current president ending the show.

The Hall of Presidents has been open at the park since 1971 with a guaranteed refurbishment each time there is a new elected President so that the new animatronic can be added to the show.

Attraction length: 22 minutes 48 seconds

Who is this attraction suited for?: All ages though children may get fidgety after a while, its a long show with no Disney characters at all.

Theme Park Trader Rating:  2/5 – Despite this attraction showcasing some incredible engineering from Disney’s Imagineers in the creation of the animatronics, the show doesn’t paint a fair picture of American history, glossing over some pretty big events. It can also be a bore to any non-patriotic American or anyone visiting from outside the USA.

Wheelchair friendly: May remain in wheelchair/ECV

Liberty Square Riverboat

Liberty Square Riverboat

Board the Liberty Belle,steam-powered paddler wheeler modelled on vessels that used to take people up and down the Mississippi river as you set sail for a tour around the Rivers of America in this 1/2 mile journey.

The boat consists of 4 decks, 3 of which are available for guests, all with great viewing of the surrounding Magic Kingdom across all decks.

Attraction length: 12 minutes 45 seconds

Who is this attraction suited for?: A gentle ride for all the family to enjoy. History fans will also enjoy this attractions.

Theme Park Trader Rating:  2.5/5 – This is a great attraction to get away from the busy crowds for a few minutes and to take in the view of Liberty Square and Big Thunder Mountain.

The Muppets Present Great Moments in American History

Kermit and Miss Piggy from Muppets Present Great Moments in American History

Join Kermit, Piggy, Sam Eagle, Fozzie and Gonzo as they tell stories from America’s history in a comical format that only The Muppets could!

There are actually two different shows that The Muppets perform depending on the time of day:

  • Declaration of Independence
  • Midnight Ride of Paul Revere

Each of the stories are fun to watch and we were lucky enough to enjoy viewing the first ever showing of the Declaration of Independence back in October 2016.

Better yet, instead of seeing The Muppets in animatronic form or in 3D like over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, this is like watching a live patriotic version of The Muppet Show with puppeteers doing the performances of all characters.

Attraction length: 11 minutes

Who is this attraction suited for?: A fun Muppety presentation of American history suitable for all.

Theme Park Trader Rating:  4/5 – This is the Muppets attraction we have been waiting a long time for at Walt Disney World. Live puppet performances, audio pre-recorded from the original performers and a hilarious script. These are The Muppets at their best and both shows are well worth a watch.

Fantasyland

Alice and the White Rabbit riding teacups

The best person to introduce Fantasyland is Walt Disney himself, a quote taken from the Disneyland dedication in 1955:

“Fantasyland is dedicated to the young and the young at heart, to those who believe that when you wish upon a star your dreams do come true.”

Walk through Cinderella’s Castle and you will find Fantasyland, a place full of attractions, character meet and greets and some serious Disney magic!

From classic Disney attractions like It’s a Small World and Peter Pan’s Flight to exciting new attractions such as Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid and the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Fantasyland has so much on offer to enjoy for kids and big kids alike.

It’s a Small World

It's A Small World interior

Beginning its life at the 1964 New York World’s Fair, It’s a Small World has long since been either a fan favourite or one of the least favourite attractions at any Disney park. The attraction began as “salute to the children of the world” and has entertained millions of guests since.

Known for its catchy song It’s a Small World (After All) written by Disney Legends the Sherman Brothers, the attraction features dolls from different countries around the world and promotes peace and brotherhood. The ride opened at Walt Disney World at the Magic Kingdom in time for opening on October 1st, 1971 and has been there ever since (though obviously going under considerable refurbishments during that time).

Like many other attractions at the Magic Kingdom, this attraction captures not just the essence of the Disney company, but Walt Disney himself.

Attraction length: Around 13 minutes

Who is this attraction suited for?: All ages though best for families with young children and hardcore Disney fans

Theme Park Trader Rating:  4/5 – While some people may be put off with the repetition of the song, it is hard to deny the impact that this attraction has had on Disney and theme parks in general.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Race through the Dwarfs diamond mine in this coaster that’s for all the family and features classic songs from Disney’s first animated feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Opening as one of the final phases of the New Fantasyland updates at the Magic Kingdom, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is currently one of the parks busiest attractions.

While some fans were initially unhappy with Disney closing Snow White’s Scary Adventures, this new attraction builds further on the Dwarfs while still retaining elements from the original ride such as the Dwarfs cottage and the vulture figures. It is our opinion that this new attraction is a more than worthy replacement for Snow White’s Scary Adventures!

Attraction length: 2 minutes 30 seconds

Who is this attraction suited for?: This coaster is an experience suitable for the entire family though does have a small height restriction.

Theme Park Trader Rating:  4/5 – The Dwarf animatronics alone are worth riding this attraction for, the attention to detail on this attraction makes it a must for any visitor to the Magic Kingdom. Ride at night for an entirely different experience! FastPass for this attraction is a must as it’s usually the busiest attraction at the park.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Though Dumbo went through a bit of a redesign in 2012 to bring it into New Fantasyland (the attraction now includes water effects, changing colours at night, an interactive queue and two carousels instead of one), this classic Disney attraction remains the same beloved attraction at heart.

As the queue for this attraction can be long, even with the addition of the second carousel, guests can grab a pager shaped like a ticket and run around inside the Bigtop while they wait to be called to ride. There are plenty of things to do for the kids inside the Bigtop and this is arguably one of Disney’s best designed queues to date.

Once your pager goes off, choose a Dumbo and take to the skies on this classic attraction with the added benefits of the 2012 updated features.

Attraction length: 1 minute 30 seconds

Who is this attraction suited for?: This attraction is great for guests with younger children and those Disney fans that have always loved the attraction.

Theme Park Trader Rating:  3/5 – While this is a great classic attraction and the interactive queue is brilliant, the attraction does feel as old as it is when riding. Worth riding if the queue is short but wouldn’t advise making a priority for FastPass selection unless you have Dumbo fan in the group.

Height Requirements: None

The Barnstormer

The Barnstormer

Another attraction redesigned as part of the New Fantasyland updates, The Barnstormer featuring the Great Goofini is a junior coaster that is a great introduction to rollercoasters for smaller riders.

Guests board one of Goofy’s homemade stunt airplanes and rise above Storybook Circus as they follow the twists and turns of this short rollercoaster.

Attraction length: 1 minute

Who is this attraction suited for?: A great introduction to rollercoasters for kids and big kids alike.

Theme Park Trader Rating:  2/5 – The attraction is incredibly short and only worth riding if queues are quiet. That being said, as with any tall Disney attraction, it is worth riding to take in the views of the park. Young children will appreciate the attraction as an introduction to rollercoasters.

Height Requirements: 35in (89cm) or taller

Enchanted Tales with Belle

Enchanted Tales with Belle

An upgraded version of Storytime with Belle, this attraction opened as part of New Fantasyland in 2012.

Join Belle as she retells the tale as old as time in this must do attraction for any Beauty and the Beast fan. Wardrobe and Lumière join Belle alongside a lot of audience participation as you travel through Belle’s cottage and a magic mirror that leads directly to Beast’s Castle!

Guests will pick-up the tale just before the night that Belle and Beast fall in love (which is the very evening you meet Belle!) with roles given out for characters like Maurice, Mrs Potts and Beast.

The design from start to finish on this attraction is incredible and Disney’s use of animatronics on both Lumière and Wardrobe is among the best the Imagineering team has ever created.

Attraction length: Around 20 minutes (additional time for photo opportunities)

Who is this attraction suited for?: A must do attraction for any Beauty and the Beast fan though the show is better suited for younger children.

Theme Park Trader Rating:  4/5 – The level of detail in the attraction from the queue to the animatronics is incredible and any younger Beauty and the Beast fans will be blown away by the retelling of the story. The addition of a photo opportunity with Belle and Lumière at the end just finishes the experience perfectly.

Journey of the Little Mermaid

Journey of the Little Mermaid exterior

Board a clamshell and travel under the sea as this ride takes guests through the story of the Little Mermaid. Travel through key scenes from the movie as you encounter Sebastian, Flounder, Ursula, Prince Eric, King Triton and Ariel herself.

As one of Magic Kingdoms newest attractions (opening in 2012 as part of New Fantasyland) this attraction benefits from next generation animatronics, providing a truly unique experience of The Little Mermaid.

Expect to be singing along throughout the attraction as it includes all the major hits from the 1989 classic including ‘Under the Sea’, ‘Part of your World’, ‘Kiss the Girl’ and ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls’.

Attraction length: 6 minutes 15 seconds

Who is this attraction suited for?: A great family attraction that is equally as good for adults.

Theme Park Trader Rating:  4/5 – From the queue to the attraction itself, to the attention to detail in replicating Ariels world is incredible. While this alone makes this attraction great, combining it with the classic songs, great animatronics and enjoyable experience makes this attraction a must do at the Magic Kingdom.

Mad Tea Party

Alice and the White Rabbit riding teacups

Jump into a giant sized teacup on this spinning attraction that is reminiscent of the Mad Hatters Tea Party in Alice in Wonderland.

A classic Disney attraction that has been open as long as Magic Kingdom, guests can spin their individual teacups (3-4 to a cup) at their own pace and depending on how hard you spin, the ride can get pretty intense.

Just like in my photo, Alice and the White Rabbit also occasionally ride this attraction and will greet guests outside of the attraction for photos and autographs.

Attraction length: 1 minute 30 seconds

Who is this attraction suited for?: Families or anyone that wants to spin around really fast!

Theme Park Trader Rating:  2/5 – This attraction has changed very little since opening in 1971 and feels more like a fairground ride with a Disney overlay. That being said, it is a fun attraction if you don’t mind spinning. We recommend spinning as fast as possible to get full enjoyment!

Mickey’s PhilarMagic

Mickey's PhilarMagic

Join Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and characters from across many of Disney’s animated classics in this fun 4D attraction that features sights, sounds, smells, effects and more!

This attraction goes down in history as one of the few attractions where the Imagineering team worked together with another team at Walt Disney, in this case, the Walt Disney Feature Animation team and you can tell by just how good this show is.

Journey from the plains of Africa in The Lion King to Agrabah in Aladdin and sing along with dancing dishes in Be Our Guest, this show really has everything for a Disney fan and is something that simply cannot be missed! In fact, here are the sequences featured in the movie:

  • Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast
  • The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
  • Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid
  • I Just Can’t Wait To Be King from The Lion King
  • You Can Fly from Peter Pan
  • A Whole New World from Aladdin

Attraction length: 12 minutes

Who is this attraction suited for?: Everyone

Theme Park Trader Rating:  5/5 – This attraction is one of the best shows at Walt Disney World by far. Combining great 4D effects, scenes from so many beloved Disney movies with many of the famous 5 also involved, a must do for any Disney fan, young and old.

Height Requirements: None

FastPass+ Available: Yes

Wheelchair friendly: May remain in wheelchair/ECV

Peter Pan’s Flight

Peter Pans Flight

Fly along with Peter Pan in this classic suspended dark ride that has been at the park since opening in 1971. Join Peter and the Darling family as they travel over London and into Never Land. The attraction features ‘flying’ pirate ships and scenes featuring Tinker Bell, Captain Hook, Smee and many other characters from the animated classic. Some of the scenes included within the attraction:

  • The Darling family residence
  • Flying over London
  • The Lost Boys Camp
  • Mermaid Lagoon

Attraction length: 2 minutes 45 seconds

Who is this attraction suited for? All ages

Theme Park Trader Rating:  2.5/5 –  Despite the relative recent addition of the interactive queue (which is great), this attraction suffers from changing little since its opening in 1971 as well as having long wait times. That being said it is still a classic Disney attraction that is worth a visit.

The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Join Winnie The Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Eeyore and everyone else from The Hundred Acre Wood in this journey through various stories told in the beloved books. Guests step inside giant Hunny Pots as they glide and bounce throughout this attraction.

This attraction also benefits from being one of the first Disney rides to receive an interactive queue which is especially pleasing if you have small children who often get bored waiting in line.

While FastPass+ is available for The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh, on most days the queue is more than manageable without it.

Attraction length: 3 minutes 29 seconds

Who is this attraction suited for? All ages

Theme Park Trader Rating:  3.5/5 –  While the attraction itself is relatively new in the grand scheme of things (1999), some parts of the attraction do feel a little dated in comparison with other Fantasyland attractions. That being said, the interactive queue is a plus for families and overall the attraction is a good experience for any fan of Winnie the Pooh.

Princess Fairytale Hall

Princess Fairytale Hall exterior

While Frozen fans will be displeased that the Anna and Elsa meet and greets have now been moved to Epcot, Princess Fairytale Hall is (in our opinion), a more enjoyable experience as a result.

Meet Cinderella alongside other Disney princesses that can include Rapunzel, Elena and Tiana. Here you can get photos, autographs and great conversation!

Lines can be long for this attraction, (even with the Frozen princesses absent) so it is well worth getting a FastPass if you can!

Attraction length: Around 10 minutes, depends on the conversations you have with the princesses

Who is this attraction suited for? Younger guests or fans of Disney Princesses

Theme Park Trader Rating:  3/5 –  Great for guests that want to meet one of their favourite Disney Princesses, the wait times often do not warrant the experience for older guests without children.

Height Requirements: None

FastPass+ Available: Yes

Prince Charming Regal Carrousel

Prince Charming Regal Carrousel

Ride an authentic carousel from 1917 that has since been refurbished to look like it belongs in the Disney animated classic, Cinderella. While this attraction doesn’t appear like much on the surface, it is a classic Disney attraction that is fun for all the family and has been at the park since opening in 1971!

Attraction length: 2 minutes 18 seconds

Who is this attraction suited for? Families with young children or long time Disney fans

Theme Park Trader Rating:  2.5/5 –  This attraction is great for families with younger kids who have never ridden a carousel before. The music to the attraction is classic Disney tracks but with a calliope which adds a nice touch. The wait times vs ride length can sometimes result in the attraction being worthy of a miss.

Fantasyland Station

Fantasyland Station exterior

If you are looking to take the scenic route back to Main Street U.S.A or back into Frontierland then this is a great way to travel if the queues aren’t too bad! On the way back to the front of the park you will also get a great view of the backside of Tomorrowland!

Attraction length: Around 20 minutes

Who is this attraction suited for? Anyone, ride is for all ages!

Theme Park Trader Rating:  4/5 – Great as either the continuation of the grand circle tour of the Magic Kingdom or to take a scenic route to the front of the park at Main Street. Will take longer to ride the train than to walk if you want to get back to the front of the park in a hurry.

Casey Jr. Splash ‘n’ Soak Station

Fans of Dumbo will recognise Casey Jr as the circus train from the movie and this attraction is perfect for young children on a warm day in Florida as the animals inside the train splash guests who get close!

Attraction length: As long as you like!

Who is this attraction suited for? Young children

Theme Park Trader Rating:  2/5 – A great way for young children to cool down in the Florida sunshine and the train itself looks great. Scored low due to its lack of appeal to everyone.

Tomorrowland

tomorrowland-sign

Tomorrowland has always represented a view of the future and though it can sometimes struggle to keep up with the times,  it does provide an incredible view of what the future could have looked like and has certainly always been a favourite among fans.

Tomorrowland is full of attractions that will either get an outcry of joy (Space Mountain, Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover) or anger (Stitch’s Great Escape, Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor) but whatever the feeling on some of the attractions, you cannot argue the visual appeal that the land has, especially at night.

Astro Orbiter

Astro Orbiter

Fly high above Tomorrowland and take in some of the incredible sights of the Magic Kingdom on this short ride aboard a Buck Rogers styled rocket!

Astro Orbiter has been running at Tomorrowland in some capacity since 1974 when it opened as Star Jets. In 1994 when Tomorrowland saw a complete renovation, the attraction was altered and changed to the Astro Orbiter that exists today. The attraction does a total of 11 rotations per minute and runs around 1.2 million miles in a single year!

The queue for the ride involves waiting for an elevator to take guests to the platform where the attraction is housed. While in theory this experience offers something unique, the reality is that this attraction can be a nightmare to queue for.

The spectacular view of the park that you get from riding this attraction (especially at night) means that the queue is usually worth the wait. If you can time it right so that you board the attraction as Wishes is reaching its climax, you wont regret it.

Attraction length: 1 minute 30 seconds

Who is this attraction suited for? Anyone (attraction vehicles can be a squeeze)

Theme Park Trader Rating:  3/5 – While Astro Orbiter will give you spectacular views of the Magic Kingdom, the attraction can be a nightmare to queue for and the ride vehicles are very cramped! Try riding at night for a different take on the view!

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin

Join Buzz Lightyear against the fight to stop the evil Emperor Zurg from stealing precious batteries from the toys to power a weapon of huge destructive power! This attraction combines a shooting gallery and classic dark ride and has been operating at Tomorrowland since 1998.

Guests are able to control their own XP-37 star cruiser by spinning themselves to hit Z targets that are spread out throughout the attraction. More points are awarded for hitting harder to reach targets and there are more than a few secret targets hidden in the ride!

Attraction length: 6 minutes

Who is this attraction suited for? Anyone (especially Toy Story fans)

Theme Park Trader Rating:  3.5/5 – While it is fair to say that Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is a fantastic ride, it feels very dated in comparison to the newer Toy Story Mania at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Carousel of Progress

Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress

This classic attraction debuted at the 1964 New York World’s Fair before it moved to Disneyland and then to its current home at Walt Disney World in 1975. Though the story has changed slightly over the years, the attraction very much focuses on Walt’s original vision.

Follow a traditional American family (in animatronic form) as they travel through the turn of the twentieth century into the present day.

Though some park visitors may call this attraction dated, I wouldn’t recommend trying to suggest closing it to anytime longtime Disney fan.

Attraction length: 20 minutes 45 seconds

Who is this attraction suited for? While it’s suitable for anyone, kids may struggle to sit through it. It’s especially good to ride if you want to get out of the heat for a rest.

Theme Park Trader Rating:  3.5/5 – It is fair to say that to many, especially those that have never experienced this attraction, Carousel of Progress can feel dated. That being said, we have a soft spot for any attraction that Disney himself worked on and the animatronics and catchy song are still worthy of a watch.

Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor

Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor

Jump through a doorway into Montropolis contained within Tomorrowland and join Mike Wazowski and other Monsters from Monstropolis. Set after the events of Monsters, Inc. this attraction is all about the monsters requiring laughter in order to keep the city’s power running. In order to achieve this, the monsters have setup the city’s very first comedy club.

This attraction is well known for its use of technology, enabling Mike and his friends to interact with guests live, each show is different as a result! Guests are also able to submit jokes via text before they sit down in the audience!

Do keep in mind that there is always a single guest that gets picked on a lot more than others and there will be a running gag throughout the show, aimed at a single guest.

Attraction length: 11 minutes

Who is this attraction suited for? Best for families with younger children though some of the jokes are amusing for adults too!

Theme Park Trader Rating:  1.5/5 – While the technology behind Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor is awesome, most of the time the jokes simply aren’t that funny and we aren’t huge fans of guest interaction here at Theme Park Trader. The attraction also doesn’t really fit that well into Tomorrowland.

Space Mountain

Space Mountain

Space Mountain at the Magic Kingdom is the original that would go onto inspire all of the others at Disney Parks worldwide. Opening in 1975, it is one of the first structures you will see from a distance when you are getting close to the Magic Kingdom.

Though the ride only reaches a maximum speed of 28mph, the rockets propel around the track in almost complete darkness, making it feel a lot faster.

Even though it is the oldest operating coaster in the state of Florida, it remains incredibly popular and is as enjoyable as it was when it first opened. The reason why this attraction is still so good, 40 years on, is a combination of continual improvements over the years and a bit of Disney magic in the creation of such a well designed building and attraction.

Attraction length: 2 minutes 30 seconds

Who is this attraction suited for? Classic coaster fans, kids looking for the next step after Big Thunder Mountain and those who like to be thrown about a bit!

Theme Park Trader Rating:  4.5/5 – A classic Disney coaster that is one of the most highly regarded attractions at the Magic Kingdom and one of the three main mountain centrepieces of the park. Riding in the dark makes it even more fun though be warned, minor whiplash may occur if you ride at the back (though this can make things even more fun).

Stitch’s Great Escape

Stitch became one of Disney’s most popular characters in the early 2000s and Disney quickly scrambled to open this attraction in replacement of ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter.

Guests are recruited into the Galactic Federation Prisoner Teleport Center in order to assist in the handling of a new prisoner, Experiment 626 himself, Stitch. Chaos ensues as Stitch escapes with guests powerless to do anything as due to being kept in place by a harness restraint!

Despite many of the animators who worked on Lilo & Stitch assisting in the creation of this attraction, it will always go down as the Tomorrowland attraction that everybody loves to hate.

Attraction length: 15 minutes

Who is this attraction suited for? Hardcore fans of Stitch, not always suitable for younger children due to periods of complete darkness.

Theme Park Trader Rating:  1.5/5 – We are huge fans of Stitch as a character here at Theme Park Trader but unfortunately this attraction just doesn’t do Experiment 626 justice. Now running seasonally only, the first sign that Disney may be thinking of a replacement in the future.

Tomorrowland Speedway

Tomorrowland Speedway

Even those that have never visited the Magic Kingdom before will know when Tomorrowland is close by the sounds and smells of Tomorrowland Speedway.

Take in the views around Tomorrowland in a track that stretches 2,000 feet and board a mini gas powered sports car in this attraction that has been around since opening day in 1971.

Though it may look like these cars are built to be bumper cars, Disney will always discourage guests that bump people in front who are driving slowly (which is a shame).

Attraction length: 4 minutes, 45 seconds

Who is this attraction suited for? Anyone over 32in (81cm) in height!

Theme Park Trader Rating:  3.5/5 – A fun attraction for the entire family, it is amazing how well this attraction holds up after being open for 45 years. If everyone in your party is tall enough then you can each have your own car. Even though it isn’t recommended by Disney, if you are lucky enough to have a party member in front, don’t be afraid to give them the occasional nudge.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

Take an informative but relaxing tour around Tomorrowland in this fan favourite that has been at the Magic Kingdom since 1975.

Guests board a transit system that was designed as a vision of a mass transportation system of the future as the attraction passes through each attraction in Tomorrowland, with a special inside look at Space Mountain.

If you are lucky enough to be riding the PeopleMover when Space Mountain has broken down or is being refurbished, you will get a look at the coaster lit up!

Attraction length: 10 minutes

Who is this attraction suited for? Everyone

Theme Park Trader Rating:  4/5 – A fan favourite and certainly a favourite here at Theme Park Trader. A great way to relax for 10 minutes and an attraction that very rarely has a long wait. Great to ride during the day and perhaps even better at night when Tomorrowland’s lights are all on.
