Today the Universal Orlando Resort announced that work on Epic Universe was going to continue immediately. Brian L. Roberts, Chairman and CEO of Comcast had this to say on the work continuing:

The restart of the construction of Epic Universe is a terrific moment for our employees and for our theme park business in Florida, it is our single largest investment in the state and represents our enthusiasm for the spectacular park and the economic opportunities it will generate.

There are a couple of points around this that are really exciting for us:

Universal is hiring again

Work commencing on the project means that there will be a huge level of new talent being hired in order to make the plans for Epic Universe a reality.

This Will Force Disney to be Competitive

If Universal gets this park right, Disney is going to face some serious competition from the family audience. With the expectation that we will see the introduction of both Nintendo and Dreamworks lands within Epic Universe, the Universal Orlando Resort will become a lot more family-friendly when it opens.

Nintendo coming to Universal StudiosWe can’t wait to see the progress on the 750-acre site and the prospect of seeing Nintendo appearing in Orlando has excited us since it was first announced over 5 years ago!
