The meet and greet with Marvel’s Doctor Strange has officially opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The new character experience allows guests to meet the doctor, as well as take part in a a special magic show where young guests are picked from the audience to train in the mystic arts.

The great team at Inside The Magic has recorded the experience which takes place at the end of Pixar Place. Check it out below:

Strangely (get it), the new meet and greet hasn’t appeared on the Disney website yet, however, this could be due to a couple of reasons.

When Disney started recruiting for male actors to play the role back in September, the job description mentions a “limited engagement appearance this fall”. So if the meet and greet is only going to be available for a short time, to cover the showing of the film, then Disney may not bother to list the experience on the website. If the film turns out to be a big hit, it wouldn’t surprise me if they make the meet and greet a more permanent thing.

The other reason could be down to the contract between Disney and Universal over the Marvel rights in Florida. My understanding is that Universal has the rights to all Marvel Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men characters, and since Doctor Strange doesn’t belong to any of these franchises, that’s how they’ve been able to bring the character into Hollywood Studios. However, as part of the agreement, Disney aren’t allowed to use the word “Marvel” at all, or promote the experience.

Whatever the reason may be, it looks like a great experience for fans of the character and the new film. If you do want to catch Doctor Strange, you’ll want to be quick about it, as it sounds like he won’t be around for long.
