Universal Orlando recently announced that due to the popularity of the Cabana Bay resort, the hotel will be receiving a huge expansion in 2017 and will see an increase of an additional 400 rooms!

In a press release Universal stated:

Opening in 2017, the expansion will consist of two additional towers that will be located at the south end of the property, adjacent to the Continental and Americana guest towers.

Not only this, the resort expansion is related directly back to Universal’s new water park, Volcano Bay as the new rooms will overlook the new park!

More from the press release:

In addition to the remarkable amenities and on-site benefits, select rooms in the new towers will offer spectacular views of Universal’s Volcano Bay – the resort’s third incredibly immersive park that will forever change the perception of water theme parks when it opens in 2017.

I usually stay on property at Walt Disney World when I am in Orlando and have only stayed within Universal on one occasion at the Hard Rock Hotel which I loved, I would certainly be game for trying out Cabana Bay at some point in the future!
