Universal Studios Florida have announced today that a new nighttime show will be coming to the park, replacing the existing Universal’s Cinematic Spectacular – 100 Years of Movie Memories.

Universal's Cinematic Spectacular - 100 Years of Movie Memories

The announcement was made via a press release:

A new nighttime lagoon show is coming to Universal Studios Florida that will include new animation featuring characters from favorite Universal attractions, a new storyline, new music, lighting and special effects. It will take Universal’s Cinematic Spectacular – 100 Years of Movie Memories, which is now closed, to an entirely new level. This is one of many new experiences coming to Universal Orlando as we continue to grow our destination. Stay tuned to the Universal Orlando blog for updates – more details will be released soon.

Universal’s Cinematic Spectacular – 100 Years of Movie Memories finished at the end of summer, as usual, to make way for the Halloween Horror Nights, but this time the show will not be returning.

Started in 2012, the show celebrated Universal Studios’ 100th anniversary.

Despite the show having mixed reviews, I’ve always been a fan. I always enjoyed seeing the classic film clips along with the iconic music, not to mention the Morgan Freeman narration. However, I’m certainly open to change, and I look forward to seeing what Universal have to offer. With Disney’s strong offering of nighttime shows, including the fantastic Happily Ever After, Universal will need to come up with something special if they want to draw the crowds.
