I certainly wouldn’t describe myself as a keen golfer. My idea of golf would be Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf down International Drive (which I thoroughly recommend if you haven’t been). However, if I were to start playing golf, a course with a Mickey-shaped bunker would be where I’d start.
Until now Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course has been the only course, of the four available at Walt Disney World, to feature the Mickey-shaped bunker.
It’s recently gone through some renovation by Arnold Palmer Golf Management, who manage the four Disney courses. The bunker has been rebuilt with a special concrete to preserve the iconic shape for years to come.
Well, it seems they had some leftover concrete, as Disney have announced that a further 3 Mickey-shaped bunkers will be coming, one for each of the other courses:
- Disney’s Palm Golf Course at hole 8
- Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course at hole 12
- Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course at hole 9
The new bunkers will be coming “sometime next summer”. Why it takes up to 9 months, who knows, but it’s something to look forward to for all you Disney golfers.
