It didn’t take Disney long to announce a brand new ride at this year’s D23 Expo. During the Disney Parks presentation, Disney announced the very first attraction based on the adventures of Mickey Mouse.
The new “state of the art, major attraction” will be called Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway and will be coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, replacing the long standing Great Movie Ride.
In the ride, guests will “step through the movie screen and join Mickey in his animated world” where they will go on a “zippy, zany, out-of-control adventure”.
What’s interesting about this new ride, it’s going to be featuring a brand new technology to Disney that they’re called “2 and a half D”. This will allow guests to get a multi-dimensional experience, without the need for 3D glasses. As a glasses wearer, this is great news!
There was no mention of when this new ride will be opening, however, The Great Movie Ride will be closing it’s doors after its last day of operation on August 13th, 2017.
The final gem for all Disney and Mickey Mouse fans is the promise that this new attraction will feature the most hidden Mickeys of any Disney attraction around the world. They claim that even in a “zillion” rides, you won’t spot all of these hidden Mickeys.
