According to Hollywood Reporter, Emma Stone is currently in talks to play Disney Villain Cruella De Vil in the planned live adaptation of the movie.
While currently there has been no choice of director, what is known is that Kelly Marcel is writing the script and that the movie will be following Maleficent in that it will be an origin story of the character.
I can’t be the only one that isn’t convinced by Disney continuing the path of villain origin stories, particularly if the follow the same path as Maleficent and have the villain portrayed as a hero by the end of the movie.
However, Emma Stone is a fantastic actor and one that I could see in the part of Cruella in her early years. Lets just keep our fingers crossed that Disney show the rise to evil of the character rather than changing what we have loved about the villain for so many years!
