While there is still unfortunately no definite opening date from Disney on the new Hangar Bar that is themed on Indiana Jones’s famous pilot (we still have the ambiguous ‘fall’ as an opening time), Disney have revealed a lot more details about the new dining location including what to expect from the menu and the all important story behind Jock Lindsay’s Hangar Bar.

The Story Behind Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar

In a recent post on the Disney Parks Blog, Disney revealed the story behind why the bar exists:

As the tale goes, Jock made a home at this waterfront property in the 1940s after discovering this charming little town while flying Indiana Jones over the Sunshine State in search of the elusive Fountain of Youth in 1938. As a member of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers, Jock often welcomed his globetrotting friends to his hangar for a drink and fun times.

I have always loved the level of detail that Disney go to with everything that they do and restaurants are no different!

Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar Menu

While the complete menu still hasn’t been revealed, Disney have mentioned a lot more of the items we can expect to see when Jock Lindsey’s opens later in the fall.

Beverages

Various beers and wines will be available, as can be expected however there are some interesting cocktails on the initial menu, some with some fantastic nods back to Indiana Jones:

  • Reggie’s Revenge
  • The Fountain of Youth (featuring Florida vodkas)
  • The Bitter Barkeep (with Peruvian Pisco)
  • Anything Goes (with Asian spirit that packs a punch)
  • The Aviators Flight
  • The Scottish Professor
  • Cool-headed Monkey (with African spirits)

Food

The small plates of food revealed so far also sound fantastic and are full of references to Indiana Jones:

  • Dr. Elsa’s She Devil Eggs (brined in beet juice with lump crab filling)
  • “Good” Dates (goat cheese-stuffed dates with Marcona almonds and pickled veggies)
  • Snack of Ra (salads and dips served with injera and naan crisps)
  • Tanis Tacos (filled with falafel, shredded lettuce and cucumber-tomato salad)
  • Pretzels (with house made mustard and blue cheese fondue
  • Rolling Boulder Sliders (three spice meatballs on mini-buns with yogurt sauce)
  • Brody Brats (grilled bratwurst with mustard and pickled cabbage)
  • Lao Che’s Revenge (spicy Asian chicken wings)
  • Why’d It Have to Be Squid (fried calamari flatbread with spicy harissa)

I think you will agree that Jock Lindsey’s is sounding fantastic, I hope that it is open by the time I arrive in Walt Disney World in November!
