Last week Disney made several changes to Mydisneyphotopass.com that may change the experience for you. In this post I will take you through the major changes that Disney made to the experience.

Watermarking

The biggest change but the less surprising of the changes is the addition to watermarks across all photos online that haven’t been purchased (either individually or part of Memory Maker). Although for us users this might not be the best of changes, it does protect Disney from users that were trying to screenshot or using screen capturing software.

The new watermark makes this impossible to do:

As mentioned, this makes a lot of sense for Disney to do, it is just a shame that the largely high quality pictures that Disney take during a vacation can be incredibly expensive to purchase, even with the Memory Maker which is priced at $169 if you purchase in advance or at $199 if you need to use it straight away.

Fortunately the other two changes that Disney have made to PhotoPass are ones that will keep users happy.

Downloading Photos

Once a guest has purchased a photo online any additional copies of that photo will be available for download for no additional charge whatsoever. This is a fantastic addition to the service that more than makes up for the users that were essentially getting their photos for free before the watermarking was implemented.

Online Purchase + Download

Guests who purchase a print online will also be able to download as many copies online as they want, essentially meaning that while you wait for your professional print to arrive in the mail you can start downloading the image and sending to your friends and family or put on Facebook etc. Simply go to the purchased photo and click download.

So although some people might not be happy about some of these changes, I do think that Disney is trying to make the best service possible, it is just a shame the prices can’t be a little cheaper, I still rely on the photos that I take in the parks!
