It was only a few weeks ago when we announced that Disney were set to ban selfie sticks on all major attractions, something that we completely agreed with here at Theme Park Trader.

However, Disney are now taking this even further and as of June 30, selfie sticks will be banned across all Walt Disney World parks, with bans beginning from July 1 at Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland Parks.

This essentially means that if a selfie stick is found in your bag on on your persons it will be confiscated for the day with the option to pick it up at the end of the day. A numbered ticket will be given so that you have the ability to do this.

So why have Disney taken this seemingly strict stance on selfie sticks? Well it would seem that simply banning them from attractions was not doing the trick in keeping park guests safe. They are in fact dangerous if opened on rides or indeed in front of other guests when walking around the parks. Banning them completely seems the safest thing to do for Disney.

Are you annoyed by this change in the policy on selfie sticks or are you glad that this is happening, let us know in the comments!
