The start of September means we’re only a few days away from a few big name attraction closures across Universal Studios and Walt Disney World.

Frozen Summer Fun at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The summer-long special event started on June 17th, but it’s now coming to a close this weekend, with the final events taking place on September 7th. The event added a number of attractions to the park, including the twice-a-day Frozen Royal Welcome parade featuring Anna and Elsa, a stage based performance by everyone’s favorite snowman, Olaf, and also the Frozen Fireworks Spectacular (taking place just before Wishes) which featured a firework display to the music of the film. Don’t worry Frozen fans, the For the First Time in Forever sing-along will remain, with performances throughout the day at the Hyperion Theater.

September 7th will also be the last day you’ll be able to ride The Incredible Hulk Coaster at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. The ride is closing, until an unspecified date next summer, to allow for “new enhancements to its storyline, ride vehicles and overall experience”. More details have been promised in the coming months, so we’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date on the work being done.

Disaster! at Universal Studios

To make way for the new Fast & Furious: Supercharged attraction that was announced last month, “Disaster! – A Major Motion Picture Ride” will be closing permanently on September 8th. The ride, which features the talents of Christopher Walken, takes guests behind the scenes of a film studio to learn the secrets of disaster films, culminating in a dramatic special effects finale. The ride was originally Earthquake: The Big One which opened when the park itself did in 1990, taking inspiration from the 1974 film, Earthquake. The ride became what we see today in 2008 when it was refurbished to separate it from the Earthquake film. I personally won’t be too disappointed to see the closure of this ride, in recent years, despite the refurbishment, it has felt tired, so it will be good to see a new attraction in it’s place in the coming years.

Don’t be too down-hearten! Despite these closures, there are plenty of attractions to keep the whole family entertained, with plenty more coming soon!

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the above closures, so please share below in the comments.
