The Orlando Sentinel seems to have gained access to documents which confirm what we covered off in our post back in February; a gondola system is coming to Walt Disney World!

Notes from the documentation refer to three individual lines linking Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Epcot and Resort hotels Caribbean Beach, Pop Century and Art of Animation. There are said to be a total of six stations involved in this network of gondolas.

The project is apparently codenamed, The Italian Job and named after the gondolas used in Venice, Italy.

While it might seem like a crazy idea, a system such as this could allow for a gondola to arrive at each station every 10 seconds with a capacity that ranges from 800 to 3,000 people per hour. That figure is related to each direction so you can imagine just how many people Disney will be able to transport with that many stations and lines!

While there is still no official word from Disney, this is looking pretty much confirmed now. I for one am excited about a new transportation system coming to Walt Disney World!
