While to a lot of you out there this might not be the most exciting news in the world but to regular goers of Disney’s Hollywood Studios this should really help with getting into the park.
What is a rope drop?
All four main Disney parks allow guests into the park slightly earlier than when the park officially opens to allow people to filter through the entrance of the park and get to the areas they need to go before the attractions actually open. Keep in mind that attractions (unless it is Extra Magic Hours) do not open until the park does but of course there are shops to browse while you wait.
So what’s new with Disney’s Hollywood Studios rope drop?
I have always found that Disney’s Hollywood Studios seems like the busiest park in the mornings when the rope drop first occurs and while this isn’t actually true most of the time, it feels this way because guests are extremely limited as to where they can go in the park compared to other parks.
With this in mind Disney are now allowing guests further into the park to get closer to their first attraction of the day. The new areas guests can go to before official opening are:
- Sunset Boulevard (between Reel Vogue and the Planet Hollywood Superstore)
- Center Stage (by Hollywood Brown Derby & Lounge)
- Echo Lake (around Indiana Jones, Dinosaur Gertie’s, and Min & Bill’s Dockside Diner)
While most guests will still be rushing off to get to Toy Story, it is great to see that Disney are opening up more options for guests heading towards Rock n Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror and Star Wars.
