Disney Springs to Open Florida themed Restaurant in 2016

Disney Springs has had a lot of announcements. new openings and things going on at the moment with the name change, opening of Jock Lindsay’s Hangar Bar and the announcement of a a new chocolate shop all within a couple of weeks of one another. There are no signs of things slowing down in the near future with work continuing on the huge expansion and a new announcement from Disney and celebrity chef Art Smith.

Homecoming: Florida Kitchen and Southern Shine

Homecoming is a return to home for Art Smith (who is originally from Jasper, Florida) and the new restaurant will be heavily inspired by Florida and other Southern favourites. So far the food is sounding amazing and is set to include:

Desserts are set to include a selection of cakes and pies that will be made daily and shipped from a bakery in Hamilton County (I have my fingers crossed for Key Lime Pie).

Art Smith has promised that:

“Each dish has a little Florida twist and make guests feel like they’re on the back porch with me for every meal.”

In terms of the inside look and feel of the restaurant Disney have promised that the restaurant will have a rustic-chic decor and will feature a glass-walled kitchen and a Southern Shine bar that will offer a number of cocktails and drinks.

Although this is still very early on in the process (the restaurant isn’t set to open until Summer 2016) the initial items on the menu sound awesome and I cannot wait to sample some of these when I am in Orlando next year!
