Disney Remains Top in the 2014 TEA/AECOM Theme and Museum Index Report

That time of year has come again where TEA/AECOM release the index of attendance of the top theme parks of the world. No surprises again to see Disney at the top of the list with the Magic Kingdom Park keeping its number one spot at the top of the list with almost 20 million visitors in 2014!

Perhaps the biggest surprise is to see the huge gain once again for Universal Studios and the huge drop for SeaWorld.

the top 25 theme parks of the world in 2014 by attendance

All percentages compare figures to 2013 attendance.

As you can see, Universal Studios Florida gains a huge 17% on 2013, likely due to the continued success of Harry Potter with Diagon Alley opening up in 2014. SeaWorld sees continued decline at a loss of 8% thanks to the controversy of Black Fish and the keeping of Killer Whales in captivity. This trend make start to shift as SeaWorld shift focus into the new rollercoaster, Mako.

So what do you think of this list, any surprises?
