One of the best ways to pay for special events like the Epcot Food and Wine Festival has been via gift card for quite some time. Gift cards are a fantastic way of tracking exactly how much money you are spending at the parks and can be topped up at any time. The great thing about gift cards is that whenever you use it the remaining balance of the card will be present on your receipt so you always know how much you have left.
Disney realise the importance of Digital in our world and are now accepting digital gift cards. This means if you have an app like Passbook, GoWallet and Gyft you can now begin to take advantage of digital gift cards.
A barcode will popup on the app that you will need to scan at a Disney register in a very similar fashion to normal gift cards.
Disney has also said it will look to support YuDo (the digital wallet app aimed at kids) in the near future.
While a seemingly small move, Disney are increasingly proving that they are not shy of moving along with technology.
