As part of the huge transformation that is currently in the works at Disney Springs we have known for quite some time that Planet Hollywood was due to close for refurbishment and reopen as the Planet Hollywood Observatory.
Disney have just announced that Planet Hollywood will be closing from January 2016 for around six months and is expected to reopen again in the Summer. Unfortunately this does mean that all current staff members (around 460 workers) are going to be laid off. While it is true to say the workers are going to be given priority in the recruitment process for the new restaurant, you would think jobs could be kept for all workers that wanted to return.
Planet Hollywood Observatory will be larger in size than the current restaurant and will be adding a patio bar, a new terrace and additional outdoor seating.
