Disney’s FastPass+ is showing that Captain EO is making a comeback to Epcot on July 19. This is great news for fans of Captain EO, or indeed Michael Jackson but it has to be questioned as to how long the show will be returning for.
By the time July 19 hits, Captain EO would have been closed for four months, making way for extended previews of the likes of Tomorrowland and Inside Out. (As mentioned in a recent post I managed to check out the Tomorrowland preview at the Magic Eye Theater in Epcot and thought it was awesome.) Closing any attraction for four months at a time (if not being refurbished) is never a good sign and this has to put doubts into everyone’s minds as to the future of the attraction at Epcot.
Let’s not forget that the only real reason it returned was due to the death of Michael Jackson. Personally I think it is time for us all to say goodbye to this attraction and make way for something new. Now don’t get me wrong, I love Captain EO and make sure I see it whenever I am in Epcot but the nostalgia of it has worn off and is now starting to feel dated in the same way that Star Tours did before they revamped it in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The Future of Imagination Pavilion
Of course there have been strong rumours iffor quite some time that the entire Imagination Pavilion is going to be changing in the very near future. This to me would be great news, especially if Disney use this as a chance to bring back the Dreamfinder!
So are you happy that Captain EO is back or would you prefer a complete change to the Imagination Pavilion?
