It’s springtime at the Disneyland Resort, one of the best times of the year to visit! The sun is shining, the weather’s warm, and the park is in full bloom.
Lots of attractions finish up off-season refurbishments this time of year, so the flowers and fresh paint make for new energy and color in each land.
In March and April, the Disneyland Resort offers special treats, events, and even some unique merchandise to celebrate the new season. Here’s how to celebrate Spring 2017 at the Happiest Place on Earth!
Sweet Treats at Disneyland During Spring
To celebrate Easter, Disneyland serves up lots of egg-themed goodies. The main candy shops on property (Candy Palace, Pooh’s Corner, Trolley Treats, and Marceline’s Confectionary) all serve egg-shaped desserts. You’ll also find chocolate eggs, bunny snacks, and – thanks to Beauty and the Beast- rose cupcakes throughout both parks and Downtown Disney. But the most famous springtime treat of all are Disneyland’s handmade Easter Eggs!
These eggs have a fudge middle, with a milk chocolate outer layer. You can try chocolate cream, chocolate or vanilla nut, black walnut, and even peanut butter flavored eggs, all served up at the Candy Palace on Main Street USA.
Fun and Games at Disneyland During Spring
My favorite springtime activity at the Disneyland Resort is the Easter Egg Hunt!
Purchase a map (they are available throughout both parks) for $6 and the resort transforms into a massive scavenger hunt location. Find large hidden eggs, painted like Disney characters, and place a sticker on your map where you spot each egg. Once you’ve found them all, you can turn in your map and receive a surprise reward.
For a more “traditional” hunt, children of Resort Hotel guests can participate in an egg hunt on the Disneyland Hotel’s Adventure Lawn (Easter Sunday, 8-11 am). But if you’re a “big kid” who wants in on the fun, you’ll have to stick to the park-wide hunt.
For a low key Easter celebration, you can also book an Easter Brunch at Storytellers Café (Grand Californian) or PCH Grill (Paradise Pier Hotel). These special dining experiences include a unique menu, and different Disney characters will make surprise appearances throughout your meal.
But the fanciest option of all is the Easter Classic Tea, at Steakhouse 55 in the Disneyland Hotel. This afternoon event includes cherry blossom tea, spring-themed scones and mini cakes, and a special bunny-themed kids menu. To book an Easter brunch or tea, call Disney dining at 714-781-DINE.
And of course, finish off your springtime feast at the Food and Wine Festival in California Adventure.
The festival celebrates food and drink from across California, which means tastings, professional demonstrations, and even exclusive ticketed dining experiences. In between trips to food carts, you can enjoy live entertainment from Chef Goofy and different bands and performance groups. Catch the Electrical Parade Before it Unplugs
There’s one unique springtime event this year: the Main Street Electrical Parade! This parade, original to Disneyland, has not been on the west coast since the 70s (it moved over to Walt Disney World for a long run). But now, you can catch this Disney classic in all its glory until summer. To make sure you have the best possible view, you can book a dining package, which comes with a reserved viewing area (note: standing room only).
