Universal have announced this week that they are working on a brand new water theme park, Volcano Bay!

According to Universal Parks:

“This is one of the most exciting projects we have had the opportunity to be part of because Volcano Bay will completely redefine the water park experience for our guests.”

Although details are pretty sparse at this stage here are a few things we do know:

  • The park is set in a picture-perfect set of tropical islands formed by a massive volcano
  • The park promises something for every member of the family
  • Universal promise radically-innovative attractions as well as peaceful moments of relaxation (lazy river perhaps?)
  • Universal are hoping to change the way guests think about water theme parks with Volcano Bay

The best part of this announcement is that they have already broken ground on the project and a date has been given, 2017!

No more details have been revealed about the project as of yet but we do know one thing, Universal Parks are beginning to run out of room in Orlando what with over 18 experiences launched since 2010. It will be very interesting to see if they continue the rapid pace of expansion once this project has concluded.

So what do you think about this new park, is a new water park something you wanted or would you have preferred Universal to focus on other experiences, perhaps further expansion of the main theme parks? Let us know in the comments!
