Disney have announced that as of today, Wednesday October 14 2015 a new menu is rolling out at Tortuga Tavern with less of a tex-mex theme and more of a barbecue theme. Hopefully this means that the Adventureland quick service restaurant is going to stay open more throughout the year as whenever I have been at the Magic Kingdom around 9 times out of 10 Tortuga Tavern has been closed as it tends to only open when the Magic Kingdom is really busy.

Tortuga Tavern New 2015 Menu

Here are just some of the new items that are appearing on the menu from today:

  • Barbecue pulled pork sandwich served on Texas toast with beans and coleslaw
  • Barbecue sliced beef brisket sandwich served on Texas toast with beans and coleslaw
  • Grilled chicken breast sandwich served on Texas toast with beans and coleslaw
  • Roasted corm and vegetable salad served with vinaigrette dressing (beef brisket or grilled chicken is optional for the salad)

Here is the barbecue pulled pork sandwich just so you can see how tasty these new offerings look!

barbecue pulled pork sandwich served at Tortuga TavernWhat I find strange is that Disney only recently updated the menu at Pecos Bill Cafe to change from a barbecue based menu to a Tex Mex menu, it seems strange that Disney have almost switched the two around (though thankfully not a burger in sight!). Sure Pecos Bill only really had the wrap and pulled pork burger but still, strange that the theming seems to have swapped.

Perhaps Disney have done their research and found that people would prefer Tex Mex food throughout the year instead of barbecue food?

In any case, I think the new menu to both Pecos Bill Cafe and Tortuga Tavern look amazing, what do you think?
