Rumours are circulating today that Disney has plans to build a Skyway Gondola transportation system that will link Epcot to Disney’s Hollywood Studios while also making stops at select hotels along the way.

Disney has filed permits for several buildings that many people are taking as Gondola stations. These buildings would be located at:

  • Epcot’s International Gateway
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
  • Pop Century & Art of Animation Resorts as a shared stop

Of course long time fans of Walt Disney World will remember the classic Skyway attraction that took guests to and from Tomorrowland and Fantasyland, at least this version has a distinct purpose of ferrying guests in and out of parks/resorts.

While the plan does seem quite a little far-fetched and I am not 100% convinced that we will ever see this come to fruition, it does make sense to offer additional modes of transport in and out of Disney’s parks. Also, travelling in and out of the parks via gondola would be awesome!

If this rumour is true, I would imagine Disney making this gondola system far more enclosed than the original Skyway at the Magic Kingdom.

Gondola systems are making a bit of a comeback with lots of metropolitan areas considering them in the near future.

Would you ride a gondola to and from the parks?
