Last week Disney rolled out some changes to the My Disney Experience App that went largely under the radar. While some of these changes are pretty small, I think all of them go a long way to improve guest experience. Lets take a look at just some of these changes that formed part of the updated.
Less Logins Required for iOS
This is a massive welcome change to anyone with an iPhone who isn’t using fingerprint technology on the app (if you have it then use it!). Previously the app would require you to login again when it became idle so if you had a particularly long password and wanted to check something in a rush it was almost impossible to do so!
Now Disney have made changes so that the app will only require you to login if the app is completely closed and then opened again or you are making a purchase.
PhotoPass Editing & Enhanced Customisation
If you use My Disney Experience on any Apple device (iPhone, iPod or iPad) you can now launch PhotoPass photo viewers feature and add filters, stickers and borders to any images that you have in Memory Maker or ones you have purchased individually. You can also use the new tool to crop images too.
Better Wait Time Estimation for iOS
Disney has said that the latest update to the app has added improvements to the wait time functionality. Wait times are now using location services alongside Bluetooth technology to help make wait times even more accurate.
I personally never found the old wait time system drastically wrong but it is good that Disney has made further refinements to improve even more.
Android Update
While most updates to My Disney Experience have improved things for Apple users, Disney also rolled out an update to the Android version of the app.

In an entirely new interface, Android users will open the app directly into the park map with attraction wait times.
Other improvements include a new swipe shortcut that will allow guests to swipe up to see what the next thing on their list is, this could include a dining reservation, FastPass+ reservation or resort reservation.
