With Universal and Nintendo officially finally working on something across all Universal Studios parks, it was only fitting that the first park to receive some form of reveal would be the one also home to Nintendo, Japan.

Check out the first official reveal below:

Super Nintendo World Japan concept art

It looks to me that there are some pretty interesting features in the first image including:

  • Princess Peach’s Castle
  • Bower’s Castle
  • A Warp Pipe that can clearly be explored
  • Toad’s House
  • A structure that looks like an exact replica of a level from Mario
  • A few characters including several Yoshi, Toad and Princess Peach

Unfortunately, this is all the detail we have so far, other than the fact Universal want this open in time for the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

The expansion is set to cost more than 50 billion Yen (around $430 million) and is perhaps the most exciting expansion to any Universal park since the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

I still have my fingers crossed for a Mario Kart attraction at one of Universal’s parks!
