It looks like Disney have just filed a permit for a pretty large expansion that is heading to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.
Though everything is still very much TBC, it looks like Disney have plans to replace building located in the Barbados village area of the resort by adding a single multistory building.
For those of you unfamiliar with the resort, the location of Barbados Village on the map:
This explains why height test balloons were spotted towards the end of 2016, it looks like this was to see if the new building could be seen from Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Epcot.
Rumours also point towards this new expansion being part of the next big Disney Vacation Club expansion after work finishes on the villas at Wilderness Lodge. While this is far from confirmed, it makes sense given Disney hasn’t announced any further DVC projects as of yet.
Work on this project is expected to begin a bit later this year with estimated completion in 2019.
