Four people have been tragically killed in an accident at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast of Australia in Queensland.

The accident occurred on the Thunder River Rapids attraction at the park which according to sources is one of the tamer rides at the park.

It would seem what happened is that as the vehicle moves upwards onto a conveyor belt, the vehicle flipped across, ejecting two people from the ride and trapping the other two passengers on the conveyor belt. All four of the deceased were adults between the ages of 30 and 45.

Dreamworld put out the following Tweet on the tragedy:

The park closed early and will remain closed until further notice, I would imagine until the investigation of the cause has been found.

Thoughts are with the families of the victims at this terrible time.
